There are so many reasons why I completely trust your wonderful facility and your entire happy caring staff; so I will keep this short!
Harley - 4 year old German Shepherd - has attended W&W since he was 4 months old!! He loves to board, play and before his hip dysphasia loved agility class.
Bella - 6 month old Golden Retriever - started attending W&W at the early age of 3 months and has already boarded twice!
April 2008 Harley underwent total hip replacement surgery, which is a very involved surgery with a long recovery period. A mere 7 weeks post op my husband and I must go out of town. Well naturally the first place I call is W&W. At the same time Bella was spayed but she was recovered enough to be ready for action at W&W.
Your staff took excellent care of Harley. They knew his limitations and would make sure he did not over do. This was also the first time Harley and Bella would be sleeping in the same kennel. I knew the staff would keep the peace between them and offer Harley relief if he became anxious or needed to be alone.

Oh, this also helps my husband who has never had a dog before, let alone now having two. Since they are both athletic spending the day at W&W gives both of us a quiet evening or two in the house!!

FUN NOSE WORK: CANINE SCENT WORK
Wags & Wiggles offers short 2 1/2 hr workshops plus 8 week group classes! These focus on teaching you how to encourage and develop your dog's natural scenting abilities by using their desire to hunt and their love for toys, food and exercise. It's great for your dog to have fun, build confidence, and burn lots of mental and physical energy. Each handler and dog team will learn the basic foundation skills modeled after working detection dogs. Ultimately nose work is about interacting with your dog in a fun, positive way and building a stronger connection. We welcome companion and performance dogs of all ages.
High food and/or toy motivation is beneficial for this workshop. Nose Work Competitions are also now being formed throughout the U.S.
STRUCTURE OF THE CLASSES & WORKSHOP:
Each dog and handler team work individually while the other participants observe. Dogs will be crated in between runs. The first run will consist of an assessment of the dog's desire to play and its searching instinct. The instructors will describe to the students what they should be looking for in regards to how the dogs are working. The next set of runs will include more involvement from the handlers to motivate the dog to hunt and play the game. The process of scent work as it applies to each team will be explained. In the classes we expand the dog knowledge in more complicated searches and eventually use different scents that would be found in a competition setting.

Class Cost: $199 - limit 8 dogs per workshop, time length of 1 hr 30 minutes each, 8 weeks long.
Desiree Snelleman, Certified Nose Work Instructor, spent the first twenty five years of her career as a personal health & fitness professional. She officially added dogs to her training career with the launch of Fido'N Friends…in Motion, a company that served to promote, educate, influence and create optimal health and well-being through exercise and mental stimulation for both dogs and people.
Desiree has been involved in scent detection and Fun Nose Work classes since their inception. She worked all of her dogs at every class level and went on to become one of the first instructors to complete the apprenticeship program and certification in scent work. (Certified Nose Work Instructor - CNWI under K9 Noseworks and the National Canine Scent Work Association - NCSWA.) Her dog, Chi took First Place Overall in the Inaugural Fun Nose Work Competition August 2008. T'ai and Stinger were on the teams that finished first and second in the team event. In the December 7th., 2008 Preliminary Trial and Practice Match, her Border Collie, Stinger, took Top Box Drill, Top Exterior Area Search, Top Vehicle Search and First Place Overall. Chi was on the First Place Team. She is currently preparing her dogs for their title qualifiers at the First Official, National Nose Work Trial in January 2009. Her love of nose work and working dogs has led her to teaching and also conducting seminars to support handlers and dogs in this new sport.

Amy Herot, CPDT is a professional K9 trainer and handler and brings over a decade of experience to her work. She has certified teams in Narcotics and Explosives and has logged over 1500 instructional hours in detection dog training. As co-founder of K9 Noseworks, and the National Canine Scent Work Association (NCSWA), she has sought to bring that experience to companion dogs and handlers through the development of nose work classes and sport events. She and her partners launched and sponsored the first organized Fun Nose Work competition as a practice match for the upcoming national titling event in January 2009.
In the canine sport world Amy has trained dogs for agility, sheepherding, protection sports, and detection. She has competed nationally and took 3rd place in Narcotics Detection at the Gold Coast K9 Working Dog Trials with her Dutch Shepherd, Maya. Learn more about Amy Herot.
