We don't know what we would do without your daycare. Candie is such a precious little girl, and we try to make up for the suffering she experienced as a small puppy. We get so much pleasure watching her play with the other dogs during the day. She does so well despite having only 3 legs.
The dayschool training has really sped up her training. The report cards are great and we can see the difference when she is at home. We are also looking forward to watching the daycare video we just purchased. My husband gets so much pleasure out of watching her smile. WAGS DOGGIE DAYSCHOOL PROGRAM
Program Goals
The goal of the Doggy DaySchool program at Wags & Wiggles is to augment busy dog owners' training efforts. Many dog owners lead very busy lives, finding it difficult to start and/or maintain a training program. In the past, their only alternative to doing all the training themselves was to send their canine companions away to our "Ruff Love" board/train program for several weeks. Doggy DaySchool provides training on a regular basis-without having to send your dog away for weeks on end. And, Wags & Wiggles training techniques are truly positive reinforcement; you can rest assured that the best modern, scientifically-based techniques are used with your dog. All Wags & Wiggles trainers are certified pet dog trainers.
Each Doggy DaySchool program is customized to meet your individual training goals. The program is best suited for dogs who need basic manners (sit, down, come, stay, walking on a leash, etc.) and for those who just want to have fun (trick training!). Behaviors problems such as separation anxiety or aggression may require a home-based program. (Please ask for more details if this applies to you.) Your dog will attend daycare as usual and then be pulled aside for its training session. Once complete, your dog will return to the daycare to play with his buddies. YES! We do agility dayschool lessons as well. Many agility students have taken advantage of a little extra work on contacts, weaves or handling in between classes.
Doggy DaySchool Fee Schedule
There is a one-time, hour and a half private evaluation and training session during which we assess your priorities, evaluate your dog's current capabilities, and start working on building the foundation of the training program. If you have taken a Wags & Wiggles class in the past, did private lessons or did the Ruff Love Program, you can skip this initial lesson. We will just go over your goals. You choose the length and frequency of training sessions per week according to the table below. All Doggie DaySchool are costs are IN ADDITION to whatever daycare cost you would pay for that day.
Initial Private Lesson: Evaluation, Training & Enrollment
For many dogs, a 30-minute training session - Once A Week is plenty to start with. However, some owners would like quicker results and if your dog attends daycare more than once a week, you can get multiple lessons in one week. The more frequent the training sessions, the speedier the learning. You can purchase a 60 minute lesson for longer repetitions or for real life manners work at the local park. Off site trips to local parks require a 60 minute lesson. If your dog will be attending daycare a couple times a week, a 30 or 60 minute session can be scheduled for each day and you save money by purchasing multiple lessons.
Doggy DaySchool Easy 2- Step Enrollment Process
Doggy DaySchool students must be approved guests of Wags & Wiggles Dog Daycare. Once accepted as a Wags & Wiggles Daycare Client:
1. Download Enrollment Form off website (see below or register page). OR pick up an enrollment form at the front desk or contact one of our trainers at 949 635-3117 to request one be sent to you.
2. Schedule a one-time, hour and a half private evaluation and training session with a Wags & Wiggles trainer. You will receive a behavior questionnaire to fill out prior to lesson. To schedule an appointment, contact us at 949 635-3117. During the evaluation, Wags & Wiggles will make suggestions about customizing the program by selecting the length and frequency of training sessions.
That's all there is to it!
Training Equipment and Supplies
We provide the training expertise … you provide: 1) collar and/or harness; 2) a 6' leash; and 3) lots of yummy treats. Put everything in a container (e.g., Tupperware, lunch pail, Ziplock baggie, etc.)-clearly labeled with your last name and your dog's name-and leave it with Wags & Wiggles Daycare staff when you drop off your dog(s).
At the start of the program, your dog will be issued a martingale non-choke style training collar at NO charge. If we recommend a sensation harness or gentle leader, there will be an additional miminal charge for the additional equipment. If your treats require refrigeration, be sure to let the staff know that!
Progress Reports
You will receive regular progress reports, as well as handouts to support your practice sessions at home.
The duration of the program developed for you and your dog(s) is affected by: 1) your dog's prior learning history; 2) your overall training goals (number and complexity); 3) your dog's individual learning speed (we are all individuals!); 4) the length and frequency of Doggy DaySchool sessions; and 4) the amount of time you have to practice at home. Every couple of weeks, one of the training sessions should be scheduled when you are dropping off or picking up your pet so that a trainer can demonstrate progress and give you specific things to practice. This must be scheduled in advance to not conflict with other appointments the trainer may have that day.
